A “Hard Cap” is a term that is used to refer to the absolute maximum, the ceiling, amount of funds that will be accepted during a fundraising event such as an ICO (initial-coin-offering). After a Hardcap is reached no more money can be accepted.
example: Whenever the cryptocurrency project Basic-Attention-Token (BAT) was launching, they set a hard cap of $35,000,000 for their public fundraiser campaign, which they hit in 30 seconds.
