DPoS is the acronym for Delegated Proof Of Stake.
Delegated Proof Of Stake is a variant of the proof-of-stake consensus mechanism that reduces the surface area of network communications. DPoS environments employ a governance structure that limits the amount of validating full nodes. Rather than having every participant stake to the network, end users are able to delegate their influence over the network to their preferred entities. This approach reduces the decentralizing capacity of a network, however it does increase its operational efficiencies.
