Crypto Jacking is a term used to refer to the theft of crypto-assets.
Crypto Jacking schemes are varied in their appearance and executions. The most common forms of crypto jacking are the physical theft of a wallets private keys and ransomware attacks.
Private keys are compromised through faulty software leaking sensitive data or social engineering attacks where malicious actors pretend to be helping a user and manipulate them into sharing their private keys willingly. Ransomware attacks, on the other hand, are infections of hardware with a virus that lock users out and demand payment in crypto in order to unlock the device.
Another less known method of Crypto Jacking is browsers mining, where browsers stealthily mine crypto assets using the local browsers device every time the browser is opened.
