CRUD

Create Read Update Delete

CRUD is the acronym for Create – Read – Update – Delete.

CRUD is a framework that defines what operations traditional computer systems architecture allows regarding data. In traditional, non blockchain, environments Data can be created, such as a new article written. Data can be read, somebody can view that article. Data can be updated, the author adds an extra paragraph that was missed. and of course, Data can be deleted, the author finds out something else and removes the article from existence.

When considering the impact of blockchain on data the CRUD framework is neutralized and cannot be applied due to the immutable nature of blockchain. Blockchain sequences the data with which it interacts and adds a parameter of permanence, once data is pushed to it, it cannot be changed (if it is, there will always be a reference to what is was changed from). In blockchains, the data operations framework is defined by CRU, it can be Created, Read & Updated. But it cannot be deleted.
