Atomic Swap

An Atomic swap is a method of exchanging cryptographic goods between two parties without the involvement of any extra outside parties.

Sometimes referred to by the crypto community as the purest form of a decentralized peer-to-peer exchange, atomic swaps allow users to swap assets across blockchains while remaining in control of their private keys at all times.

Atomic swaps have been made possible through systematic organizations of smart contracts specifically HTLC’s (Hash – TimeLock – Contracts) and advancements in cross-chain communication.
